Aguada Fort

Aguada Fort Travel Map

Aguada Fort is located around 18 km away from the state capital Panaji. During the beginning of the 17th century, this fort was built by the Portuguese colonial rulers near the Mandovi River. A central jail and a lighthouse built during the 19th century are also located near this fort. This fort was constructed mainly for shielding Goa from the attacks of Dutch and Marathas. At the base of this fort, travellers can see the beautiful Candolim and Sinquerem Beaches. The Aguda Fort is easily accessible from Panaji and Mapusa through local buses, taxis and motorbikes.
