Darbar Gadh

Darbar Gadh is a palace complex situated in the city of Bhuj, which houses the Aina Mahal. The intricate designs and inscriptions on the structure date back to the 18th and 19th century and were built by Rao Lakhpatji. This royal enclosure was divided into several sections of apartments that were inhabited by the royal family. Moreover, the site Darbar Gadh is also a name given to the old town of Bhuj that was used for public meetings held by Maharaja of Nawanagar. Pragmal Palace was introduced few centuries ago in the west direction of Darbar Gadh. The royal chambers of this complex have beautiful designs that reflect the art and culture of the city contrasting with European style in the exterior of the palace. After the earthquake that struck in 2001, which destroyed the complex, it has been restored by The Indian National Trust for Arts and Cultural Heritage (INTACH).
