The Somnath temple, devoted to Lord Shiva, is located on the south coast of Saurastra in the Sorath province. It has a 4 ft high jyotirlinga installed on the Brahmasmi and decorated with sandal paste. The temple has a sabha mandap, garbha griha and nrtiya mandap along with a shikhara that is 155 ft high. It has seven storeys and a kalash on the top that weighs around 10 tonnes. The construction of the temple depicts the Chalukya style of architecture.
