Tripura Sundari Temple

Tripura Sundari temple in Naggar is a three-storied shrine with a colossal wooden structure and was built by Raja Yashodhapal. The temple looks like a pagoda and its architectural design follows the Hadimba Devi temple in Manali. There is a canopy with a pinnacle at the top that has a circle of chhatra. Images of several gods and goddesses can be seen in the Tripura Sundari temple. The temple is nearby Naggar Bus Station. There is a belief that the temple is in a form of a web, which was made by the Goddess after turning herself into a spider. Sharhi yatra, an extensive fair is held here in the honour of the Goddess in the month of May. The temple comprises stone idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Vishnu, Lord Brahma, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Narayan and Shiva-Parvati. A 30 cm idol of Tripura Rakshasa of Ashtdhatu can also be seen.An eerie tradition is also related with this temple. On the first day of Baisakh during the festival of Birsu, the temple receives shrouds of dead bodies as clothes to the Goddess
