Nishat Garden, located on the banks of the beautiful Dal Lake, is one of the largest Mughal gardens. Known as quot;the garden of blissquot;, this garden was designed in 1633 AD by the brother of Nur Jahan, Asaf Khan. Zabarwan Mountains form the backdrop of this beautiful garden.There are ruins of some buildings that belong to Mughal period. A double storey pavilion, which is enclosed with latticed windows on two sides, is one of the buildings that dates back to Mughal period. Tourists can also see a small spring located behind the garden, which is popularly known as Gopi Tirth. This small spring is a source of water supply to the garden.In addition, tourists visiting the park can enjoy a beautiful view of Dal Lake along with the snow capped Pir Panjal mountain range. Moreover, the garden has terraces each of which represents a different Zodiac sign. In the middle of the garden, there is a water channel flowing. Other attractions of this garden include its flowerbeds, trees and fountains.
