Alchi Choskor

Alchi Choskor is a beautiful temple situated in the village with same name that lies on the banks of the Indus River. This temple is around 70 km away from Leh on the main Leh-Srinagar Highway. It is also known as Alchi Gompa, and is approximately 1,000 years old. This temple is an ideal study centre of Buddhism and is managed by the monks of Likir.The village is largely populated by Hindus and Buddhists, and both offer prayers at this temple. It is also situated near an 11th century temple, which can be ideally visited during May and September.
