Pangong Lake is situated at a height of around 4250 m and it is popular for being the highest lake in the world. The approximate length and width of the lake is about 130 km and 7 km, respectively. The nearby location to the lake is a green valley and the village by the name of Thiksey. Some huge ancient monasteries are located on the way to the village of Thiksey from the valley.The lake is also popularly known by the name of Pangong Tso by the locals and the travellers. The lake is also popular for the black necked Siberian crane, bar-headed geese and waterfowls.
