Shri Krishna Temple is located to the west of the Sringeri Mutt Complex. It is popularly known as the abode of Sree Sankara Acharya and has been mentioned as the Kula Deva in the 243rd verse of Prabodha Sudhakaram. This temple is part of the Devasthanam of Kalady, which is governed by two Namboothiri families. These families are believed to have had close relations with the famous Sankara. Various prayers and pujas are conducted by Namboothiris in this temple that is assumed to be the sole surviving structure of the period of Sankara.
