Kaduthuruthy Shiva Temple

Kaduthuruthy Shiva Temple is a famous Shiva temple which is also referred to as the Thali Temple. It is believed that the statue of Lord Shiva in the sanctum was installed by a demon named, Khara. According to mythology, Khara used to worship three idols, including Lord Shiva. The other two idols enshrined in the temple are Ettumanoor and Vaikom. The Shivalinga in the sanctum faces towards the east. At Kaduthuruthy temple, one can also visit the beautiful Embank Lake in its vicinity. The temple illustrates architectural style of medieval Kerala, featuring carvings of stories of Karthaveerarjuneeyam. The interiors and entrance of the temple exhibit the story of Lord Shiva on wood carvings. Along with the shrine of Lord Shiva, pilgrims can also visit temples of Ganapthy, Durga and Sastha, situated in proximity.
