Indo-Portuguese Museum
Indo-Portuguese Museum was established by Late Dr. Joseph Kureethra, who was the Bishop of Kochi. He found the museum with a motive of protecting and showcasing the cultural heritage and Portuguese influence. The museum features an Altar Display Hall, which showcases the Portuguese influences on Fort Kochi and the surrounding areas. The museum basically has five main sections, namely Altar, Treasure, Procession, Civil Life and Cathedral. Major attraction of the museum is a piece of the altar made in teak, which dates back to 16th century and belongs to the Church of Our Lady of Hope. Vypeen, which is a chasuble from Bishop's House and processional cross from Santa Cruz Cathedral are among other highlights of the museum. The collection at the Indo-Portuguese Museum also includes artwork donated by Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
