Mummiyur Temple is located in Mummiyur of Thrissur District at a distance of a kilometre from Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple and 30 km from Thrissur District. Mummiyur Temple is dedicated to Lord Rudra Shiva, who as per legends gave away his meditating site on the banks of River Rudratheertha' to Guru Bruhaspathi and Lord Vayu for consecrating the idol of Lord Krishna, which later on became Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple. The temple, built in traditional Kerala architectural style, is ornamented by frescoes and sculptures. It is a ritual, that a visit to Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple should be followed by a visit to Mummiyur Temple.
