Kalbhairav Temple

The Kalbhairav Temple, popularly known as the Shiva temple, is a well known ancient pilgrimage in Harihareshwar. In this temple, idols of Lord Shiva and Kalbhairav have been placed. According to the mythology, Lord Shiva made Kalbhairav and bestowed him with all his manthrasastras.Moreover, it is believed thar Bheema, one of the Pandava brothers, broke a huge boulder into two separate pieces since it stood in the way to the temple. The two segments of the boulder can still be spotted behind the temple. The temple is thronged by the devotees of Lord Shiva especially during the celebrations of Mahashivratri.
