Muchhal Mahavir Temple is a situated at a distance of about 5 km from Ghanerao in the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary. Presiding deity of this Jain temple is Lord Mahavir, who once had a moustache. Moreover, it possesses 2 statues of elephants, which resemble guards standing at the entrance of the temple.As per legend, when Rana of Mewar was on his way to hunting, he visited this temple and was offered refreshment by a priest. Rana coincidently found a strand of hair in the prasad and asked the priest if his Lord has a moustache. Moreover, Rana refused to offer prayers that day and demanded the priest to show him the moustache on his return after 3 days. On his behalf, the priest offered prayers for 2 days.Impressed by his prayers, Lord Mahavir appeared to him and told him to cover the idol with a cloth. On his return, Rana asked the priest to remove the cloth. When he removed the cloth, not only did he see two moustaches, but he also saw a beard on the face of the idol. Rana realised his mistake and asked the priest to forgive him. Since then, the idol of Lord Mahavir is called Muchhal Mahavir.Tourists can also visit the nearby villages of Garasia to get an insight into the tribal life of Rajasthan. It is located on the route from Falna to Kumbhalgarh. At the temple, a fair is organised on the 13th day of Chaitra month every year.
