Jaisalmer

Dazzling royal city, jaisalmer is also known as the "The Golden City of India" due to its bounteous golden dunes flowing in the Thar Desert, also famous for the lakes, ornate Jain temples, havelis and castles clad in golden yellowish sandstone. "Jaisalmer" means "the Hill Fort of Jaisal". It is located near the international border close to Pakistan. Jaisalmer attracts a lot of tourists for its desert camel safari. Sam Sand Dunes and Khuri Sand Dunes are the popular dunes in Jaisalmer. It is also known for various crafts such as silver jewellery, embroidery, stone, work, leather products, and printing work. Due to its exotic Indian desert culture, heritage and adventure, it attracts tourists in abundance.

By Train

Nearest Railway station is jaisalmer Railway station, connected with all the major cities like Delhi, Jaipur and Jodhpur etc.

By Road

There are no direct buses from Delhi to Jaisalmer as the 17-18 hours drive is too time-consuming and quite exhausting. You can however switch buses in Jaipur from where a state-run sleeper coach operates regularly. Some sleeper buses are also available from Jodhpur and Udaipur.
