Ram Bagh

Ram Bagh, which was built by the Mughal Emperor Babur in 1528, is the oldest Mughal garden in India. This garden was constructed as Charbagh, with pathways and canals dividing it into four parts. Popularly known as Aaram Bagh, this garden was used during the hot summers to render relief to visitors. This garden is also known as Bagh-i Nur Afshan, which means 'Light-Scattering Garden'. As per legend, Akbar proposed to his third wife, by lying idle for 6 days in the garden until she agreed to marry him. Moreover, it is also believed that in early March, 1621 after Jahangir took the Fort of Khangra, he waited in the garden till the astrologically auspicious hour to enter Agra.
