This pilgrimage site is sandwiched between two mountains Nar and Narayan in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. It is the most important Char Dham among all the four sites of India's Char Dham pilgrimage. It is also known as the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage site. The popular belief of Badarinath is that the it is the domain of Lord Shiva, and Lord Vishnu managed to unseat Shiva from here to Kedarnath.
