Haridwar is Uttarakhand’s seven holiest Hindu city in India, and pilgrims arrive here in droves to bathe in the fast-flowing River Ganga. It's believed that taking a dip in the holy river Har Ki Pauri relieves you of all your sins. Every evening, Haridwar is witness to a set of rituals for the famous Ganga Aarti at the Ghats where thousands of devotees come together to pray to the river. Haridwar is also one of the four places where Kumbh Mela occurs after every twelve years and Ardh Kumbh after every six years.
