Goddess Naina Devi

Goddess Naina Devi Temple is one of the most crowded temples near Mallital. The Nainital Lake is on one side of the temple and other side has a concrete ground called Flats, where numerous sporting and cultural events are hosted. In the vicinity of this temple, there are many markets like the Tibetan market, Chaat bazaar and Bhotia market.This famous temple was constructed by Queen Jayatri and Queen Katyuri. The main deity of the temple is Maa Naina Devi, who is also referred to as Goddess Kumaoni and is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati.In 1880, the temple was damaged because of a landslide; however, it was renovated later. Each year, the Nanda Devi Mela is held, where Nanda Devi's 'dola' is carried on the streets.
