Goa State Museum

Goa State Museum is located in Panaji, around 13 km away from Sinquerim. This museum was constructed in 1977 for housing a collection of more than 8000 articles. It has 12 galleries that are categorised into various sections, including history, religion and art. Hindu and Jain sculptures, Goan handicrafts, coins, manuscripts, bronzes, timber items, textiles, paintings, mud models and other anthropological items have been showcased in these galleries. The Contemporary Art Gallery showcases paintings and sculptures, designed and painted by Indian and Goan artists. The Unique Freedom Struggle Gallery presents a view of the freedom struggle of Goa, by displaying portraits of the lesser known contributors to the Indian freedom struggle.
