Jami Masjid

Jami Masjid is the central masjid in Champaner, which consists of two tall minarets. Each minaret is around 30 m high, flanking the main entrance. It was built in 1523 and has carved balconies and entrance gates. There are two floors of open arcades, having jaali around the pillared courtyard and detailed carvings. This mosque is a perfect example of the Sultanate style of architecture of Gujarat. There are around 172 pillars, 7 mehrabs and a central dome that are a unique fusion of Jain and Islamic traditions. The masjid can be reached by a walk from the city centre.
