Somnath

Somnath is famous for one of the 12 Jyotirlingas - Shiva Temple located on the shore of the Arabian Sea where Somnath means "Lord of the Soma" . The original temple was built in gold by the moon god Soma to have lost his lusture and he bathed in the saraswati river at this site to regain it. It is an important pilgrimage and famous tourist attraction of Gujarat. The present structure, whose construction was initiated by Vallabhbhai Patel, was completed in 1961. Tourist once visit this site will not forget this place the whole life.
