Elephant Rescue And Care Centre

Elephant Rescue and Care Centre is renowned for its mini zoo, which is located at a distance around 20 km from the destination. Situated at Kodanad, the centre lies in the rural riverside village that is located in the Ernakulam district. During 1960s, the site was used as a training centre for the elephants, which were captured from the adjoining forest areas and were trained by skilled Mahouts. In 1970s, the government imposed a ban on the elephant capturing, and since then, the site has been utilised as a rescue training centre. Travellers visiting the site can engage themselves in activities such as elephant bathe, elephant safari, elephant feeding and watching baby elephant at the early stage of life.
