Sringapuram Shiva temple is one of the main pilgrimage destinations offered by Kodungallur. This is an ancient temple with many scriptures on its walls. It is believed that this Shiva temple was consecrated by Sage Rishyashringa and hence, the name Sringapuram. The Shiva idol in this temple represents the grief-struck Shiva, who lost Goddess Sathi in the Daksha Yaga. Sringapuram Shiva temple is noted for the Shivarathri festival which is celebrated with great enthusiasm by the devotees.
