Pathiramanal

Pathiramanal is mainly an island which covers over 10 acres of land. The term Pathiramanal refers to 'the sand of night' or 'midnight sand' and features a zoo and an aquarium. This island is believed to have emerged from the Vembanad Lake and is inhabited by varied species of migratory birds. Accessible by motorboats or speedboats, it is essentially a halt on the route from Kumarakom to Alleppey. This island can be accessed by speedboats from Alappuzha town, which take around one and a half hours to cover the entire distance. Boats are also available on the Muhamma-Kumarakom water route which takes around 40 minutes to reach this island.
