Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary

Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary is at an elevation of 1,740 m above sea level, in the forests of Brahmagiri Hills. This sanctuary is home to rare species of birds like babbler, cuckoo, owl, woodpecker, peacock and jungle fowl. The animals inhabiting the sanctuary are elephant, tiger, leopards, jungle cat, civet and bison. The steep hills, streams and dense forests of the sanctuary provide ideal trekking trails to the visitors. This place has number of caves that were used for meditation by saints during the ancient time. Tourists planning to visit this site need a special permission from the Forest Department.
