Madan Mohanji Temple

Madan Mohanji Temple is located at Karauli Fort in the city of Karauli. This temple is dedicated to Madan Mohanji, a deity of Lord Krishna and was constructed by Maharaja Gopal Singh.Pilgrims can see the 3 ft and 2 ft high statues of Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha, respectively, in the temple. The common belief is that after conquering the battle of Daultabad, Maharaja Gopal Singh dreamt that Lord Krishna wanted him to enshrinehis idol at a temple in Karauli by bringing it from Amer.The temple showcases the architecture of mediaeval age as is constructed using Karauli Stone. Moreover, many pictures can be seen thrown on the circumambulatory path around the Garbhagriha. The spacious Jagmohan, the sanctum sanctorum and the open chowk also display the architectural beauty of the temple.Tourists can take part in all the festivals celebrated in the temple. These festivals are associated with Radha and Krishna, and mainly include Janmasthmi, Radha Asthmi, Gopasthmi, and Hindola. Moreover, on every Amavasya, a fair is arranged for the local people as well as tourists. In addition, tourists can also visit a number of small temples located in the vicinity of this temple that display their beauty in the moonlit night.
