Pratapgad Fort

Pratapgad Fort is one of the famous mountain forts in the Satara District of Maharashtra, at a distance of 83 km away from Satara city and 27 km away from Mahabaleshwar. Pratapgad Fort, which was built by Chhatrapati Shivaji, offers a panoramic views of coastal Konkan. Pratapgad Fort is also famous for the Bhavani Temple dedicated to Goddess Bhavani, which is located towards the eastern side of the lower fort. Bhavani Temple, which has a hall with wooden pillars, was also constructed by Chhatrapati Shivaji. The roof of the temple was later covered with lead by Satara Raja Pratapsingh.The Tomb of Afzal Khan is also an attraction of the Fort.
